The main house has 8 bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, a spacious and gorgeous front porch, two kitchens, a formal living room, an absolutely charming library, a grand dining room, copious storage space and much more. Exceptional features include the spacious grand master bedroom with fireplace, ensuite master bath, and master sitting room; 3 other bedrooms with adjoining, private full bathrooms; original, restored wood-work and flooring throughout; farmhouse Dutch doors; and 5 working wood-burning fireplaces. The magnificent carriage house, an impressive space in its own right, also has two separate apartments that can be used in a variety of manners, such as guest or staff housing, or as rental units. The annex home has 2 units, each with three bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The units were recently renovated and the structure comes with a full unfinished basement. The property has the potential for being transformed into a desired wedding or events venue, a B&B, your home, or any of a number of possibilities. Historic Facts
This property, once known as Walnut Grove Farm, has a rich history and affiliation with harness horse racing. Alden Goldsmith, a prominent horse owner and breeder, lived on the property (likely in the main house) and was of the 4th generation of his family to live there. His family came to own the property under a patent from Queen Anne in 1735. Rysdyk's Hambletonian, a famous trotter horse, sired several successful trotters that were trained on the farm in the 1800s. Goldsmith and his two most famous horses, Volunteer and Goldsmith's Maid, were world-renowned and have been memorialized in the Harness Racing Hall of Fame. Of note, there is a memorial stone on the property inscribed with Volunteer's name, years of birth and death, and the fact that he was sired by Hambletonian.
